Exclamation Looking for spot in Stock at LV Nationals

As noted in the Lounge, we are asking everyone to let us know if they know of a racer (or are a racer in Stock eliminatior), that will not be able to go to this race. We planned on racing, but found out that it is full....we've made many plans based around this race & the following week's events. We would greatly appreciate the help.....Thank you!

Question Re: Looking for spot in Stock at LV Nationals

Wow, it's very interesting that the LV event has a full stock field, and yet next weekends race here in my back yard (as of todays postings), only has 35 out of a possible 80 entries with nearly 36hrs left for any other entries to chime in (and Stock has class elims here to boot). I guess two weeks makes a difference after all (especially since there's nothing going on inbetween them)!?

Gary,
I believe the main issue is AZ race followed by Vegas divisional and national. If your on a budget and can't afford all three, then most would agree to put the money into two races at one location a week apart. Plus Vegas is a lot more fun (and better track) than Firebird.

Your first responses have merit (although those who've patronized the more expensive races from D's 1,7, and even 6 since they charge as much for a divisional as 7), but I feel if they can afford to go to those races, then why not come here like they used to? Your budget comment is credible, but if Larry and Patsy Hill are coming out here (from over 2k miles away!) amongst others, then where's all of the California racers, and others from around Az., that used to always show up here?

I'll agree that 'Vegas is a better track than Firebird International Raceway (I spelled it out due to the REAL Firebird Raceway being near Boise, Id.). However, I will reserve that "fun" comment, since I recall having to run a first round race at a divisional (either in '09, or '08), between 11pm Sat. night, & 1am Sun. morning (when most/all other race tracks would be closed for the night, and their racers would be sleeping and racing at least 7hrs later Sun. morning). I won't fondly remember that, especially after having to hang out at the track for hours prior to that modified schedule! Thus, not one of our Div. directors better decisions...he definitely didn't have the best interest of his racers in mind then!

Think Jeff is right but also believe last year's fiasco might play a role here. The event entry closed at 33 SS and 43 Stk and a whopping 190 below the total quota so folks must be waiting for Vegas and watch what transpires this year. Hopefully this year's event will be without incident, track issues have been addressed and Firebird can pick back up with their traditional date next year.

Exclamation Re: Looking for spot in Stock at LV Nationals

When we originally started checking the quota on Stock entries, they were taking 128 entries...when it dropped to 90, & it was full, we were pretty bummed! We'd like to go to Vegas since there's the National event, SEMA show, & then division 7 race. We can make some good contacts during all that....best bang for our buck,so to speak!
(we did see that someone managed to get in after we have been trying....there were 91 signed up late 1 night, then next am there were 92 signed up!?)
