I thought you could only leave on rev limiter and footbrake if the button was in
the pedal... i just saw a video of Dan Fletcher leaving off the button(steering wheel)and footbrake on youtube from Vegas (May 2011)...he was driving Dave Bridgewater's B/SA 69 Camaro... just curious... I would like to try the button with my hand, ive done a little transbrake racing, and i like it...not sure how i'd like the button in the brake pedal... but will probably try it next season...

The starting line rev limiter and the brakes must be operated as one singular device. The rev limiter cannot be released by hand, it must be released by the act of releasing the brakes with your foot.
Dan Fletcher is often seen right up to the burnout using some sort of practice tree, checking his reaction times with his hand. I've seen him doing it right before he rolls into the water in his stocker, when we were racing him. I'm betting that he makes a motion with his hand, that is actually doing nothing other than repeating a learned muscle memory response. I doubt Dan is using an illegal device, or an illegal procedure. He may even be holding a line lock button. If you do not time the two separate motions correctly, if you are releasing the brakes with your foot, and the rev limiter with your hand, you will either have a bad reaction time, or blow the tires off the rim. It's been tried. Despite all the claims about "if you release the rev limiter with your hand, it'll make your foot come off the brake pedal, and you'll get better more consistent reaction times, the big dogs are all doing it", it simply doesn't work. Hold a big block Camaro stocker on the starting line, release the rev limiter with your hand, and wait for "the launch" to take your foot off the brake pedal.

im not accusing him of anything...but..if you watch the video, his finger is nowhere near the button in the steering wheel while he is doin the burnout...only
when he stages car, he activated it, then stabbed the throttle to the limiter and then seemingly left with it... You may be right about doin it by hand versus the foot pedal...i havent tried either yet... am lookin forward to it though! That is, if i can get my brakes to hold ![]() check it out...

Well, that's definitely a transbrake button, and unless I'm horribly confused, our friend Dan was entered in SS and Comp at LV1 this year. No Dan Fletcher, or Dave Bridgewater for that matter, in Stock.

Dave is correct, Fletcher was in SS/EA at Las Vegas 1 in April (not May). He was not entered in Stock at all in Las Vegas 1.

I knew that was the Bridgewater car he was driving but I just assumed he was entered in stock and like Alan said repeating what he is used to doing. I watched the video over and over not to try and find an illegal device but to see if the button was actually hooked up. Its a great video but kinda scary as to what we do when we bracket race. Even if he was entered in stock I dont think there is anything wrong with having a button not hooked up to simulate his superstock car. Hes a great racer...my favourite for sure.
