There are a lot of Optima haters, but I'm not one .
I usually swap mine out every three years, and us the take outs on my beaters or used cars. Just follow the proper charging procedure and they will live a long time. Also be aware red tops are designed for cars with functional charging systems to get optimum performance.

Tom, are the Yellow Top batteries better suited for set-ups not using a alternator and charging between rounds?

count me among them.
Tried a red top once, never again. Will use nothing but AC Delco 78DT as I have for the past 20 years. Last edited by 1320racer; 05-29-2012 at 11:01 AM. |
