Why is it you think you need that particular number?

My suggestion would be to call someone such as Danny Ashley or Dean Oliver and ask them what they think the best core for your needs would be.

You can often pick up some cores in decent shape at a decent price by searching ebay. Just make sure what you buy has never been "remanufactured". Those places absolutely ruin a good carburetor, drilling and plugging things, throwing away all the original screws and calibration parts, sand blasting, you name it.

Dave, you do not have to run the carburetor number that is in the guide. You just have to run an equivalent Q-Jet. There may be better carburetors out there that are legal for your combination. Ask someone like Danny or Dean before you buy anything.

Isn't this carb listed in the guide as 7040252 ,not 17040252 ? Looks like it is just the standard Q-Jet not the big 800 cfm one.
