my dad runs a 440 in a 70 challenger.
it has: Indy alum heads Crane rockers Mancini shafts Indy pushrods He has been running this combo for 3 years. he went to check the valves and look over everything and found 2 pushrods on each side burned on the ends and cracked. Appears they are not getting oil. Talked to Indy and Hensley and they really haven't had this problem. has anybody ever had this problem? Open to suggestions |

Yes, I had the same problem with my Super Stocker. I was using Trend
pushrods the Chrysler type which were supposed to be the hot ticket at the time. Only one or two would randomly do this, but I never knew which one until after they were discolored. It wasn't the lash adjustment. I never did figure it out. I changed the adjusters on the Jesel rockers and went back to a Chevy type pushrod. No more problems. 305 Chevy |

You need more oil to the top of the engine. Start by replacing the 3/8 oil pick up with 1/2 inch, and high volume pump. Do you use lifter bore bushings? Also, run additional oil lines to each oil galley by tapping into them and oil supply line tapped into the block near the oil pressure sender. Problem solved.

While grooving the #4 cam bearing is fine Indy heads are not fed oil that way to the rockers. They are fed through oil lines at the back of the heads. Burnt tips are obviously from an oil issue. Look for issues with the rockers that had pushrod problems. I do not and will not run the Indy/Dove rockers but you may want to check them for obstructions or possibly the adjuster is out to far not letting oil pass through to the tip....If that is the case the pushrods are the incorrect length.
