I found this that i put together 15 years ago just for fun would cost millions to build would pay off in 20 years
1. There would be enough paved parking for 600 race cars with Hook ups for 300 Motor Homes At a extra fee of course there ain't; no free lunch as everyone knows. Pay the extra fee at a control center and we will switch the hook ups on .( another potential profit center ) 2. There will be enough parking for all spectators, at a extra fee of course there is no free lunch. .( another potential profit center ) There will be a shuttle from a central location for the people that don’t want to pay for parking 3. There will be a Grocery Store at track, open all year around.( another potential profit center or a portable store for racers needs ) 4. There will be three major restaurant at Track, open all year around. .( another potential profit center ) 5. There will be a Hotel at track with 300 rooms, open all year around. .( another potential profit center ) 6. There will be a Casino at hotel, open all year around. .( another potential profit center ) 7. There will be two staging lanes on each side of track. one for the few pros and one for the huge amount of sportsman. These lanes will and can be filled at once to prevent any delays in running. 8. I will buy or invent two machines that will clean and prep the track in less than 15 minutes. 9. The track will be dug out with a up hill shut down area. Two major walls will be build on each side of the track all the way to the end for noise control plus to make the noise louder 10. There will be suites over the stands almost over the track for more paying customers, with special waiters for your needs of course at a extra fee. .( another potential profit center ) 11. If a race team wants preferred parking for a race we will take reservations in advance for your pit early if not the first come first serve will apply. if a racer wants preferred treatment pay up . 12. There will be a park for the kids to play in of course it will cost to get in like an amusement park on a smaller scale. .( another potential profit center ) 13. There will be an entertainment Office for anyone that wants to go on a tour or shopping for wives or kids ,of course it will cost there is no free Lunch. 14. There will be a office for anyone wanting health insurance ,car insurance etc.( another potential profit center ) 15. There will be a office for any racer wanting any special desires or needs ,at a small fee of course. .( another potential profit center ) 16. The track will be open all year around for testing at a fee of course a full prepped track regardless of class if you have the money you will get the track prepped big time. .( another potential profit center ) 17. There will be superior lighting at the whole place of course. 18. Each Lighting pole will have a speaker so every racer and fan will be able to hear the PA. 19. There will be a full time RV park open all year around of course. .( another potential profit center ) 20. There will be a full time machine shop available for racers open all year around of course .( another potential profit center ) 21. There will be radios for a fee for anyone who want to see the ets or hear the racers talking to their drivers available for rent . .( another potential profit center ) 22. All employees will have uniforms and will be trained to take care of the paying customer big time . NO COST TO CUSTOMER OF COURSE> 23. I would have cameras all put in all viewing places unmanned and being controlled by one person to show all races all the time over the internet or TV 24/7.( another potential profit center ) 24. Get 50 sponsors paying $100 per monthly to support the track , give them free passes for fans only and of course a free entry on occasion 25. Find a Insurance person who needs to sign up new clients and charge him for a weekend with a booth set up to sell with some Girls in the booth to help sell, or any new business who needs new customers , such as a cell phone company . ![]()

That is an impressive list. I don't think there is a track operator out there including NASCAR who could do all of that now with this economy. It would be awsome if they could.

The majority of your list has already been taken care of by the Baders in Norwalk. Top notch facility guys. Going there week after week, month after month has really spoiled me. There isn't another track that can compare except maybe Joliet.

Interesting list.
I see # 10 has suites over the grandstands, but more covered spectator seating would be nice. It seems all the mega tracks that are built now are designed to make spectators bake in the sun . I agree with # 1 on the list....A 30 amp hookup in select spots. Not having to run a generator is nice ! A 50 amp hookup for the big rigs # 18 also... a PA system that works beyond the first 1/8th mile so when you are pitted 1/2 mile from the starting line you can still hear what's going on. Some tracks are already using this, but a mass texting service you sign up for on your tech card so when your class is called to the lanes, you receive a notification text ( in case # 18 is not working)

Showers are a must. I spent multiple days at Joliet and Gateway this year, with no showers available. Yes, I know I could have gone over to the truck stop at Gateway and paid for a shower.
Topeka is the standard-bearer when it comes to the bathroom/shower building.

Interesting list and shows how spoiled we are in the Maritimes. One of the first tracks I raced at full time was Maitland Int raceway and it was a converted campground. I thought all dragstrips had water and elect hook up at each spot! LOL! All four Maritime tracks have FM radio broadcast so as long as you have a radio on you can hear the announcer. Showers, yup PEI and I think Miramichi have free showers. (so awesome after racing all day in the heat) PEI also has some covered area's for spectators/racers, plus a fenced in playground for kids as well as an uphill shut down area.
Btw, this is all free, included in the entry fee. So looking at the list, I think it's got great idea's, but the pay for every single thing would turn me off. Yes I agree with pay as you go mentality, but an extra fee for a playground for your kids or hearing the announcer? That's a little much. Grocery store/restaurant/casino/etc at the track? AWESOME idea, gives the better half something to do other than listening to open headers. (GB2-spoiled in the Maritimes) Last edited by goinbroke2; 08-24-2016 at 11:44 AM. |
