I read on Pacemakers Dragway's page that Harlan Updike passed away last night. God Speed.

Harlan was a fixture at Pacemakers…a track that’s been around since the mid-fifties.

The US Nationals just finished a couple of days ago. 30 years ago, Harlan was standing there at the starting line in the final, when his good buddy Roy Dean runner-upped with their R/SA Chevy wagon to Gary Long’s F/S Mercury.

Harlan was also one of few that could say: Yes, I ran a Hudson Hornet 308 in NHRA stock eliminator.
