I tried them because of the hex on the end to ease removal for inspection of the Moroso pre screen . Not impressed...Trevor

I have used many of them, cut them open to inspect after use and have been happy with the K&N filter. Seem to be well built.

They used to be made in Albion Illinois by champion mfg now made in China and Mexico by other companies to k&in specs Mott as good as the previous filters lest costly more profit for K&N. less filtering unable to prefill the filter nuts may leak and on and on. Fed 387

I quit using them when i could not prefill. Called them and said they resigned them. I like my oil instantly after an oil change. Before that I never had a problem with them.

Really hard to beat Wix & NAPA oil filters (made by Wix, last I heard)
.

Cost me an engine (and almost a second one) last year. Switched back to Wix and the oil pressure came right back. Also, I found the "hex" to be one step up from useless.

Have used K&N oil and air filters for years. No blowouts, seal problems and easy to remove. Also inexpensive for a quality filter and I usually cut the filter open after a couple weekends to be safe. Run them in both cars

West coast, what are you referring to when you mention not being able to pre fill the K&N oil filter, I fill the filters I have before I put them on, do they make more than one type race filter ?

The filter I had been using was redesigned to were you could not pour oil in it and be full before you screw it on the motor.I will have to look up the filter # maybe there is another K&N filter I could use. Will get back to this later this weekend after some research.
