Default No Tech At NHRA Events

Let's hear some feedback from racers who have attended NHRA National events so far this year. Inquiring minds want to know how "no tech" is working out.

Also is there tech as usual at LODRS points meets?

At the Gators and Houston they did tech in the lanes before you run. All safety equipment, Chassis Cert., under hood and in the trunk ect. I dont see anything different, other than where it takes place. The divisonals have been the same as always. Hope this helps.

Thanks Kevin for the reply. Wonder what would happen if they found something wrong just before the racer makes a run? I know it is up to the racer to see that his car is correct but there would be no time to fix it and he would miss that run in hopes there would be another run later. Guess everyone needs to make sure their car is correct in every way.

No tech at nhra events sucks. Been to 2 events so far and it's a damn joke. It won't be long before someone gets hurt and then they will see what nhra's insurance company has to say about it. Gary Summers

Inspection = 100% Included ~ Static / Non Changing
Audit = Random Selection ~ Dynamic / Changing

Tech Inspection (key word inspection) implies 100% of vehicles are included in the inspection process, which they are. Fair statement?

What happens during this process is an audit. Obviously, officials looking over vehicles cannot inspect for 100% compliance to every NHRA specification.

During the audit, they scrutinize critical safety aspects first and foremost. It is usually left to the officials discretion to decide how he / she wishes to procede with validating conformance to technical specifications.

The beauty of the audit process is its efficient and unpredictable. They do not publicize exactly what they are going to focus on, because that is all we would focus on.

Every car has to get a tech officials blessing. Exactly how they decide to award that blessing varies.

Some keep it visual, limiting what they check to what they can see while doing a walk around. Others like to be more hands on.

Long story short; the time it takes, the number of officials involved, what is looked at, etc, etc....it varies, as it should.
