I know this doesn't happen in NHRA racing but just looking for some ideas on splitting the purse. Like it, not like it, whatever. I know there were instances where I'd cut a deal with my semifinal opponent because losing in the semis at an NHRA nat event is costly.

Lazy way for the promoter to break down payout. This actually makes the purse look bigger than it really is.Sorry John i just don't like it.

It is very common in our S/SS Association races. To work a 60/40 split/modification of the money. One year, we had a race in Hagerstown MD that was to pay $2,500 win/$1,300 R/U. They elected to do $2,000 W/$1.800 R/U. Only once did we have a 50/50 split. They always run the final.
