If you are,or know someone who is going to race a 1955 Chevrolet (any body style) in Stock Eliminator this year please have them contact me. I have some info I would like to share with them. I have already contacted Larry Nelson in Ohio. I have seen some pics of a couple of cars from the east coast, but have no contact info for those racers. Thanks Lyn 8one 5 8 four 8 5 0 two 0.

Greg, Congrats on the purchase of the 57 Stocker. Post some pics if possible on the class racer build forum. I,m looking for just 55 Stock racers to inform them about my quest to get some HP of the 55 combination for next year and need them to help me. Later Lyn 815 848 5020 for more info.

We run a 55 in s/s but to get h.p. of any combo seems a lost cause. In s/s you have to give a 1956--80 pounds. My friend is building a 56 for stock and he is stuck with 205 against 197 for a 55. Makes no sense. Years ago my late brother RJ talked them making both engine specs the same. Sure wish i could find that info again.

Jim, the 56 is rated higher because the 55 is limited to the smaller wcfb carb, and the no valve relief pistons which really limits the duration the cam can have. The 56 cars can also run the 2 4bl engine as an option.

I could never figure why G.M. listed the 55 at 180 and the 56 at 205. Might be advertising? The difference between 4 jet and wcfb is only .062 total. That would not make 25 HP difference. My late brother could never find a performance difference with the 2 carbs, if one carb was faster he would have used it. He used the wcfb on the 56 when he ran single 4. All the specs. i can find are identical. The only question is what the original head cc"s were.
