So sorry to hear this. I used to bracket race with Ed in the 80s, before he went class racing. He later moved by me and drove a wrecker where I would see him around often. The last time I saw him was last fall, he came to my fire dept car show and he was very moved to win the fireman's choice award. He loved talking class racing and all the characters on this site. He made for some interesting reads or posts on here.
God speed Ed.

What a shame. Just a fun guy to talk to on the phone and on C/R..I can only imagine what it was like to race with him ;-)

I am saddened to here of Ed's passing. First met him and his car in the staging lanes at Atco open, it had a Hanoi Jane sticker on the back, which I liked, liked the car too. Ed was authentic, and feisty. He could flat out drive the Gremlin, won a Atco divisional with it, and went super deep at the MG national event back in 10 or 11........I recall seeing him locking it up at the stripe for a win.......shortly thereafter NHRA took away the class deal and the Gremlin was put up for sale, since I liked the car, thought it would be a good training car for the kids and wife I snagged it in 2012. The car has been that and soo much more. I am grateful for that, and getting to know Ed.

My condolences to the family, a big Wally won in Ed's memory would only be fitting.

Eric

Boy, sure sorry to hear that news. Just thought about him the other day because I was nearing a date when I would be near NJ again.

I got to meet Ed about 4 years ago when I was attempting to put together a similar type of stocker AMC. He welcomed me to his house, fed me really good, and we talked for hours. He offered up advice freely on the combo and wasn't afraid to question a lot of things I had done to the car. He was stubborn and outspoken, but certainly genuine, and what posts you see from him on here can clue you in to the kind of guy he was. Ed loved racing, loved being the underdog, and loved his country. New Jersey--maybe not so much.
He helped me out a lot in various ways, not all of it had to do with racing either, luckily I was able to do him a good turn or two on old Rambler parts I had to get his station wagon project onto the street, and I will miss him. My condolences to his wife who was sweet as could be, and to his family.
