Default Sticks to auto's on new Cobra Jets?

I just wanted to ask the question, not looking for any negative feedback. I'm impressed with Fords involvement with the new car even being a Chevy guy.

From what I read though all the 50 produced cars were sticks. So how can so many be changing them over to autos?

1968 395/375 Camaros for instance are stick only because supposedly Chevy didn't put a turbo 400 behind them until 1969.

Troy,

The CJ's can be order with a stick or auto. I believe there are a few from the factory with an auto. Unlike the '68 396/375 that could not be order with an auto.

OH!! yes they were stick only cars. Just like the 302 Z/28. But thanks to division tech director they now are not.

Take it from someone who is old enough to have owned one straight from GM.
The 375 HP versions in 1969 and 1970 were available in automatics. It was a turbo 400. If you left it manually in 1st gear and let it over ride into second at about 7,000 to 7,200 RPM it would really snap your neck or boil the wide oval tires when it did shift to 2nd.
Does anyone remember the auto workers strike in 68 which lasted into early 69 that extended the 69 production runs of the camaro well into the 70 model year? Thats why some people refer to the new body style 70 model as a 70 and 1/2.
Been there owned one brand new from GM.
Oh The Good Ole Days!!!
My 2 Cents

There are only 50 of these cars being built, I just got back from the Roush facility that built all of these cars. They are all sticks that left the building, However Ford has the option so you can put a Automatic in them.
