Just found this great idea for tie-down

but something "rubs" me the wrong way about seeing them crossed.

Mark, is it that the extensions are metal and you don't like the possiblity of
metal on metal vs crossing of normal tie down straps? Or do you just not
like the idea of using a X system to tie down a vehicle?

No, I cross my straps whenever possible. I've got a piece of padded vinyl velcro'd on them so they don't wear.
I suppose you wouldn't hear this deal rubbing and squeaking inside an enclosed trailer.
I just wouldn't want to see them all galled up after a few trips.

We have been using those for over a year now Jeff. Fast and they work well. Unhook the front of the car, push the car back and they drop off the diff. Easy to hook up too. Great tool.

What happens if your front straps get loose and the car moves.Will they drop off then?I hope not.

Your still tied down front and rear as before, these are just a link in the middle so you don't have to crawl around the bottom of the car throwing the lasso on the rear end housing. At least that's the way I'm seeing it.
And since I'm getting big-fat slicks under my car, it looks like this will make life easier. Someday...like when I get my car back...

I'm failing to see what the difference would be if you had 4 standard ratcheting straps on the car and the front straps came loose or were magically severed. You would still have the same problem, right?
