Looks like maybe a cool movie about the sport we love. Can't wait to see it and how well it does.

Jr Honeycut. Thats the moniker they give this guy? I would hope they would have picked it like a porn star. The name of your first dog and the street you grew up on. I would be Whitey Palmer and that sounds better than that breakfast cereal name!

Boomer Honeycutt is a drag racer. His lone quest is to escape his father's shadow and become the next Classic Gear Jammers Champion. After separating from his fiancée Tina, Boomer takes refuge sleeping in his van. He awakes after a rough night out to find an eleven-year-old boy on the doorstep and a note from his high school sweetheart welcoming him to fatherhood. Set against the backdrop of stick-shift drag racing in the heart of the South, this is a story about fathers and sons, teaching each other what it takes to be a man.

I would pay good money to see the Chip Johnson story. The movie can't be better than some of the stories I've heard over the years about my buddy Chip!!!!

Support the movie, redneck or not!
Fast & Furious, disdained by almost all here at one time. Did you like Part I, part II or part III the best? Enough support and you could see more drag race movies. The last good drag race movie with track scenes and some level of excitement (as I recall) was "Heart Like a Wheel". My favorite all time is "Two Lane Blacktop", check out the 2006 remastered DVD edition.

I too look forward to viewing this movie. I liked the drag movie,Fast Company that was released in 1979 more than Heart Like A Wheel.

Hopefully the storyline and wheels-up launches will generate enough interest so more people will want to visit their local tracks and see what it's all about in person!
I agree with Mike that too much "redneckisms" can enhance the stereotype of a drag racer, which is not a good thing. ("Days of Thunder" comes to mind.) But I guess that's how the producers add some drama. Hopefully it will be a positive potrayal overall. I missed Hemiparts' post earlier. ![]() Last edited by Myron Piatek; 01-13-2011 at 10:20 PM. |
