easy, Hagan, don't have a stroke....you got it right but you'll never convince the TS TD Bracket crowd, they just don't get it...like my partner says: "anybody can put a big engine in a little car....it means nothing"

somebody, somewhere has a bigger engine in a littler car

try 265 CI at 3700 lbs

And of course the T/D and T/S crowd are the reason we race 1/8 mile at 1/4 mile tracks! Lets go faster...

Does IHRA still run pro mod at their nationals? If not I assume that they are trying to use TS and TD to replace them hoping the fans wouldn't notice. I think that the IHRA nationals Pro show has turned into a joke from a true competition aspect.

It is not really any different than NHRA and there pro classes. Look at their pay out at nationals and who pays what and who wins the big purse.

Gary,
The more you post the more I realize how confused you really are.

You are comparing top of the line SS cars to an avg T/S E.T.
How much more would the SS car have to spend to pick up enough e.t to run the Minimum in T/S.

I'll bet that GTO cost a whole lot more to build than $70,000.

Was'nt Helms car for sale not long ago? How much was it? I'll bet half of the original cost!

If you are so unhappy with IHRA Stay home.

I think you also need to retitle this post to something like:
CRAZY GARY TALKING OUT HIS ***** AGAIN.

Chip Johnson(my real name) but you can call me MR.LEGEND

And most have a big baby bottle tied on to run fast enough.

And that is the Crappy part. IHRA really does care about Sportsman racing. Problem is, A lot of people won’t give it a try because NHRA is still a better bargain once you figure in all the emotional ties to NHRA, to all the racers that support them, and the limited number of races most can make. It's MY opinion that IHRA should outweigh that emotional tie with more of a financial draw. It might take a bit but people will realize it’s stupid to go race for half the money at NHRA. Then all of a sudden all of your friends are racing IHRA, and that brings more money and fun to both parties. I don't even think you need anything above T/S, T/D to make it work.

You can say it won’t work all you want, but the fact remains. What they are doing now isn't working either, at a time when NHRA has pissed off a lot of people. It’s a lot easier to raise the prize money to attract racers than it is to attract racers to raise the prize money. We all know that.

Who is the crazy one? Seriously, go back to middle school and learn how to interpret what you read. The post was not about how fast they go. It’s about how impressive the machine is. I guess you don't understand that since you run a brick with a CM. I'm not unhappy with IHRA. You just can't read.

I know it might take you all day, but go back from page one, Take a deep breath and read it all again. There were a lot of good post that came out of this thread on both sides of the debate. and a lot of attention brought to some good S/SS associations. Don't Hate because you can't comprehend it.

I'm not compairing anything out of line. A brand new SS Colbalt ,or what has you, cost just as much if not more than a New full tube whatever. A brand new Modified Motor cost just as much as a T/S 800 incher. If you were to build both brand new it would cost the same. If you were to take an old SS car and piece together a engine that will get you .10 under it would cost the same as a S/G car without a throttle stop in T/S. Your the one who is out of line

There are alot more T/S cars for more and alot less. Give me a break with it costing a whole Hellava lot more to be competative in T/S. This 07 GTO is 5k more and I bet gets more runs before it needs to be taken down.
Hell. Mr. Gary, go buy it and and come get some of that big money: I think your attitude will change after you see what is involved in runnin' with the big dawgz. 'Course you will have to qualify it after you get your license. They aren't a bracket cars despite what one of these learned racers on here seems to believe. Go buy that Goat and come run it down the Hub or some other track like Lucas or any track for that matter. And not all T/S cars are S/G cars with the throttle stop off. We don't have no stinkin' throttle stop. How would you know how often a T/S engine needs to be taken down and gone through. Ever watched or talked with some of the racers, or are you so stuck on your SS that you don't come visit and mingle? Damn, I need to build a SS so I can be all stuck up and stuff. Lighten up Mr. Gary, we do this for the fun of it. I sure as hell don't do it for the measley money they are giving out. Geez.
