Does the performance advantage of having two batteries offset the weight disadvantage of 30' battery cable, another battery, and a switch?

If your car is light, adding another battery to the rear might help with wt distribution. If you're not already looking to add weight, the best thing may be to replace the existing battery with a liteweight one.

Dean I don't know about the performance advantage. For me the peace of mind of the extra starting power is worth it to me. Nothing worse than being in the lanes and hearing click when you turn the key.
