"Live" from Bowling Green Sportsnationals Open

We are on our way! We have our granddaughters Aubrey and Reagan with us and their Mom and Dad are coming up tonight after work. Hopefully we will be able to get a spot in the shade. 90's forecast for all 3 days! I will post more when we get there.

Looks like it is going to be a great weekend for racing. Lots of people here, but still lots of parking left. We have a great spot with a tree. Larry trimmed on the tree for about an hour, but now it looks really nice and doesn't have a lot of little limbs sticking out from the bottom. We start time trials at 10 in the morning. I will try to get some pics tomorrow.

Well we should be running the Nitroplate combo race for $5000 in an hour or so. It is 96 degrees in the shade! When we got here yesterday, we parked by a tree since it was going to be so hot. Then all afternoon we kept smelling this awful smell, like someone had dumped their gray water or gas or something. We finally determined that the smell was coming from the tree. Then Jeremy Duncan came by this morning and said "Oh, you are parked by the Kaboom tree". I didn't know what he was talking about until he explained that there is a gas line leak in the tree. And sure enough, there is. So if you come by our pits, Please don't smoke! You many blow us up! Oh it is a good thing that they are not calling for any lightning this weekend. I can't imagine lightning hitting the tree! So anyway, here are a few pics from today. Notice all the ez-ups! Everyone is trying to stay cool.

Conway, sorry, but they haven't posted any qualifying sheets. There were 90 something in the combo race. I stopped taking times after Mike McDonald beat Larry in a double breakout race. Lots of breakouts in the combo race. It was still 95, but the sun was going down a little so I guess the track was a little cooler. One casualty during the combo race was Tommy Mattingly. By the looks of the smoke, it looked like he blew up an engine.
