Default Mello-Yello really?

As CompetitionPlus.com reported on 8-24, the NHRA will soon announce a new series sponsor. SportsBusinessDaily confirmed on Monday the new sponsor will be Mello Yello.

What's your thought? Is this the right fit for drag racing?

Dont get me wrong i love a Mello-Yello and that might just be what i need after i lose a tough round to mellow out but i dont think anything about drag racing screams mello-yello. I think Coca-Cola should go back to the drawing board and dont come back with Fanta either please.

Like Powerade did? It's branding. I don't think people knew much about Powerade back in the day, but its a household name now. Mello Yello has been in racing before, just not drag racing. Taking on Mt. Dew is a big challenge. They'll need more than billboards to grab much of that market share. Maybe drag racing will help them.

The Sports Business Daily article was good.

Anyhoo, hope they make a Diet version. For me, it's typically either Diet Sunkist or Diet Dew., or if I'm getting a fountain drink, mix Diet Coke 50/50 with either Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb (I guess they call it Pibb Xtra these days).

Cheerwine is cool (ask Chip!), but it's regional, an independent company.

Cole Trickle....good one!

I'm sure NHRA will be "force feeding" Mello Yello to the pros during the top-end interviews. In reality, probably a good move by Coca-Cola. I used to drink alot of Mello Yello back in the '80's, but you just don't see it much anymore. It's obvious Coke is ready to spend the bucks to promote it again.

Does anybody remember a TV soft drink commercial that had Don Garlits and Bill (grumpy) Jenkins in it? I thought it was Mello Yello. But I’m old and my memory is gone

Actually, Dr Pepper was the first soft drink ever made and preceded Coke by a year. It was invented by a pharmacist in Waco TX in 1885. Dr Pepper is the third largest selling soft drink in the world.

Guess what my fridge is full of ?
