That's something that wouldn't surprise me as well. But it's already happening with the upcoming Gainesville National Open showing Stock & SS as a combo!

Most places that get a small car count combine the classes for one eleminator for national opens. When it is time they will just tell us to build our car for SS or don't come back. If this happens they will loose car count, and the sponsors will loose revenue. Not everybody will make the jump. All the fast guys have been asking for racing seats for awhile for the safety end. This doesn't mean the end of our eleminator, just more money to spend

no where in the rule book does it say these ammendments are mandatory , so why is there a need to spend money ? my stocker still has stamped rockers, and will retain it's factory bench seat andcast OEM crank. Is it the fastest in it's class ? nope.. does it stand a chance against the new cars ? nope.. Do I enjoy racing it ? yes.. will I continue to race it ? yes .. I really think some people are just chronic complainers.

They have been doing combo races in div. 5 and 6 for years at nat. opens. Some tracks you can't set the record. gsa612

Mike, I do agree with you as my old junk has stamped rockers and factory seats too, however I just replaced the original bar in the car and made some "enhancements" (don't you just love the new NHRA terminology) to the new configuration. I'm a very tall person and took this opportunity to try and re-engineer everything including the factory seat mounting and giving me more legroom. When locating the crossbar and door bar I would have liked them to be not as visible from outside the car but to keep everything to fit me by the rule book they had to be higher, just visible from the outside. The new seat rule appears to allow for example a Kirkey seat which is not a fat seat like factory and could have provided more legroom and lowered me more in the car placing the bars where I would have liked to see them. Not to mention they have an integral headrest and I wouldn't have had to fab in a headrest that looks very "add on". Keeping safety in mind I also added a backrest support bar for the factory lowback seat because the crossbar location would have provided marginal support. I would have given the Kirkeys consideration at that time for fitment not to mention the weight saving. Having said that I still like the factory appearance. So much so that as I put everything back together I'd like to relocate all the ignition components that are currently passenger floor mounted just to clean that up and retain " factory appearance " (again, don't you just love NHRA terminology). Now as you said too I do enjoy what I have and I'm long overdue getting back out there!

seat manufacturers, trans companies, and piston guys get ready it is your turn for the annual deposit from the nhra enhancement program...taking money from us and giving it to them !

at least unlike the government i dont have to pay for someone else less fortunate.

captain...

and dont bet the ranch the powerglide isnt as fast in a lot of the cars... and watch the money meter while you try to sort out the new 3 speed... convertors, gearsets and ring & pinions aint cheap !

No rollbar required if you run 10.00 @ 134 MPH ?

^^^^ does not apply to S/SS

I saw this on page 10 about their Street Legal program and the way I interprupt it to mean is that if you run that series and have a 2008 or newer car (that is un-altered) you do not need a rollbar to run up to 10.0 flat @ 134 . (excluding convertibles and t-top cars)

I'm sure the 2013 GT500 owners as well as the 2012 ZL1 owners will thank NHRA.
