I am working on this 327 + 60 which for the time will be a bracket engine. [it will be a 350 Horse 327 which hopefully will go in a '65 Chevelle 300 2 dr.]
anyway, this engine will go 60 over. the cheap blue Fel-Pro gaskets go right to the edge of a 30 over cylinder now. i checked several other brands, Mr. G, old Fel-Pro, Rocket, and they all look the same. even a used 400 gasket comes close. So my ? is how close is too close and also the reverse, how big a gasket bore is too big? Thanks Rod in AZ |

Rod there are many 4.060 gaskets , UNless the chamfer at the top of the block is extra large the 4.100 GM gasket should work,I try to keep the gasket bore as tight as i can. I would not have any more than .060 bigger. Stockers need all the comp they can get. Jim

If your using a performance gasket those blocks sometimes require an extra hole drilled in deck. This link applies to all SBC' if using a a peformance gasket.
