Dick,
YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.......... What's the record for your new & improved class? Combining class (STOCK & SUPER STOCK) might not, I repeat not, be a bad way to go. I don't think sticks & autos in the same class will work because look at the fine job that NHRA has done with the AHFS, just change the weight breaks. All this can only occur with lots of input from us, the sportsman racers who race in stock and super stock There would be more heads-up runs, which is what you desire without adding a new show that takes track time away from everybody else. The divisionals still could be used, as they had been designed to be used, for the local racer to set records and race against other cars in the division, which would lead to a divisional championship. Sounds pretty simple when you spell it out. If you want top/stock or top/super stock talk to your local track and become part of the Wednesday night or weekend bracket show and not take more time away from the divisionals. Dick, I mean no disrespect to you or your ideas, but I think it is time to speak up about what's really important to sportsman racing. Every new class or eliminator is a step towards the end of drag racing, as we know it. The divisionals have had problems drawing ever since the pros left. No advertising and no hype to fill the grandstands. My belief is that adding another eliminator, which contains very few cars and is not geographically dispersed across the country, is a plan for failure. We can just keep diluting the product, sportsman racing, until there is nothing left or we can take a stand. Bob

Bob, Thanks for the respectful comments. One point is TOP/SS and TOP/STK dont currently run at Points meets. We are only running at open events where there is no TOP anything else or Alcohol.(Thankfully)
The idea of our TOP/SS and TOP/STK classes is to have a chance at MORE heads up S and SS racing at more meets than NHRA currently offers. At the same time we allow combining classes to create the field so more people can be included. We are hoping DIV 3 racers will expand the participation like DIV 1 has been doing. HOT ROD REUNION saw two DIV 1 cars travel to Columbus to join our TOP/SS Due to weather and reruns of races we had split our racers this year so points races came first hurting our turn out but when TOP/STK was run for the first time in DIV 3 at Bowling Green the racers expressed great support for the concept and we hope to expand our competitors in future races. Again thanks. Dick How would you correct the problem of dilution and too many classes ? more details please?TOP/Sportsman and TOP/Dragster are just splitting the S/G and S/C classes as you know. It is still Bracket racing. Last edited by Dick Butler; 08-05-2007 at 08:32 AM. |

Bob,
We even had AA/Gassers and Pro Mods to go along with the Golf cart race at Sonoma. Mike Rice is set on the 1 run on Friday, two on Saturday and the inclusion of all of these other classes. 10 pounds of **** and a 5 pound bag!! |
