I have a metric 200 that works fine when driving in the pits and even the burnout but when shifted into second gear after the launch it freewheels and never goes into gear. Third gear is fine. Any ideas?

What's the history of the trans? Was it just rebuilt and did it originally work fine? The intermediate band is supposed to apply in second. It may be burned up or this is an issue with the band pin or servo.

Did'nt say anything about it or may not have noticed, but does hold back like brakes are dragging in low or second,I put gear in Randall Campbell's truck last year after broke rear, went pull out and felt like brakes were dragging in low and second, high felt OK,pulled down trans and sprag was blowed up,he's broke rear twice and busted sprag both times.
Probaly not same problem as yours but, thought could help. Mike Taylor 3601 |

What kind of car it is in ? What kind of filter you have on it ? How big a wheel stand does the car do ? Auto 1/2 or manual shift?

Car is 3 gen Camaro that is in H/SA. Has a stock pan and filter and manual shift. Has Turbo Action valve body. Goes 2 feet in the air. Band is good, pin not broken and servo air checks fine. |

Try adding more fluid. At least a quart. Run a hose from vent up dipstick tube maybe with a loop in it and zip tie to the tube. This will stop fluid from getting on track. It might spit because you need it to be overfull to work with stock pan. The pick up for fluid is towards the front you could be picking up some air.
The best fix is a Turbo Action pan that relocates filter towards the rear of pan. Hopefully you havn't damaged anything if this is what it is. There's a good chance that its ok. |

you got a fluid problem ! It's work fine driving around and burn out so the tran's is probability ok . Check and see if you have the right dipstick & tube. Fluid is running away from filter on take off add fluid or put deeper pan & move filter to rear of pan.
