Note there is a comma separating the two thoughts. Aftermarket NHRA accepted cylinder blocks permitted. That means if a Dart, World Products, etc., block is what you want to use it is OK only if approved by NHRA. Use some common sense. Why would NHRA want a '71 (only) OEM block in your '71 Maverick? And then also allow an aftermarket non-OEM block? Some factory production blocks have no external markings on them indicating what year the block was manufactured. It doesn't make sense.

It is quite interesting how experienced racers can read the bible and walk away with completely different and opposing ideas of what was printed. Just shows how vague the rule book really is.
Shout out to PartsBob, see ya in Vegas next weekend ?? |

If NHRA wanted you to have a 1971 casting 302 block, and nothing else, it would be clearly stated. The engine blueprint guide, the class guide & the rule book are a threesome that are used together. You can't just use one of the three and hope to accomplish something.

Damn politics anyway
![]() If I had an unlimited budget and couldnt keep my race car ADD in check, I would have a 302 Maverick on the trailer right now! Nevermind, I brought one home ![]() Last edited by Joe Toller; 10-12-2013 at 08:58 PM. |
