Another great Midwest Class Racers event - tons of cars, great weather, Alan Reinhart on the mic (thanks Alan, you made it feel more like the big show that it was!), and I even won two rounds in spite of the mess inside my bellhousing. I only managed to get one photo...here are Dave Cech and friends enjoying some nappy-nap time under Dave's Chevy II:

Thanks Tim for the great photos!! Thanks Midwest Class Racers for putting up the big money & a record car count for Kearney 60 cars compared to the usual 45!! Thanks to Kearney Raceway Park for putting on the National Open & to ESPN & Alan Reinhart for being there!! Loved hearing Alan saying "Attention in the Pits, Attention in the Pits" brought back old memories of KRP when I was a kid!! My car ran personal bests almost every run. 1st event with a 3 speed vs the powerglide & man did she like that!! went frlom a best previous of .30 under to .66 under & a Q/SA 283 2bl Chevy pulling the wheels off the ground nearly every run!! Thanks to my Car owners Monty & Cheryl Jones for letting me live my dream!!!

Bobby,
The look on your face and the thrill in your voice was worth the trip to KRP. Knowing your car owners Monty & Cheryl Jones, I'm sure the pleasure of helping you "live your dream" was all theirs. Rick & Jerry Ryan |

Kearney is a cool place to race. All of the track people were very nice. Monte Jones and his wife put on a breakfast feed Sunday morning that had very delicious cinnamon rolls. Special thanks to them for the breakfast!
It was a real treat to have Alan announceing at a National Open. Alan sure can keep it interesting. Thanks, Alan! The track owner was also real nice to all the racers and thanked us all for coming. Thanks to the Midwest Racers group for putting some extra money in the payout on Sunday! Very much appreciated. Thanks to the Div. 5 tech crew for all of their efforts. A very good crew to work with! I enjoyed meeting several new people at this race. A couple of stick shift Camaro guys were there, all the way from Wyoming. They drove 700 or more miles to attend. I would encourage all racers to attend this event. They really do a good job in promoting and running this event.

If you have FB, check out the Kearney Raceway Park page. They put up some photos, one with a Chevelle nearly on the bumper.
Wish I was running stock when events like this are near. I raced out there about 8 weeks ago for their Summit/Wally race. Did anyone that has never been to KRP notice that the track rises to half track and falls for about the second half? Clark Doukas |

Congrats to Marty Buth for setting the P/SA 1/4 mile e.t record at Kearney in his '83 Mustang GT 2.3 Turbo.
Not sure... (because NHRA has not posted 1/8th mile records since last Dec.) but I believe Marty also set the 1/8th e.t and mph records as well. Also, congrats to Marty on a semi final finish as well as being the # 2 qualifier. Well done my friend. ![]()
