Pull the valve covers and check for and replace the broken valve spring or springs is a very good place to start....

It would be nice if I had access like that. I've heard about the valve springs which is main reason I did a compression test. this thing is from a roadside used car lot w 188k on odometer.
I do know brand new 2014 hemis eating their cams. Saw it 2x already from other techs. I had one also and they told him to go back to selling dealer as we have too many already. What an experience in my second week now. I'm not allowed to touch warranty, need level 2 certs. None of mine cross over, zilch, zero, nada. I work with some great certified and well some not, you know........ Sucks i have very little data at my disposal. My prior car brand is well ahead of mopar getting their techs knowledge. I still like the hemi. Just needs a 3200 lb street car. Last edited by chris ok; 11-26-2013 at 09:45 PM. Reason: info never stops.... |

Yes it is, and trying to make it run with a broken spring can cause the blown intake. Also be sure to check for proper valve opening as the do still turn cams into axle shafts from time to time.
