I don't think the "new" cars belong in Comp, but it needs to be figured out before too long. Didn't the new breed of cars begin in 2010 and here we are in 2014 still trying to figure them out?? With all the alphabet classes now being handed out ( see the "live fom the Gators 2014" thread or the thread about Chris Holbrook's 3 wally Thursday), something should be done before it gets any crazier??? I am not sure what the answer is, but maybe Bret Kepner can help with this. He seems to have a handle on class designations.

As most know, our family races the new cars. I do agree that there are some rules that need to addressed. There are some significant issues that are to be addressed trying to differntiate the classes. Let's bond as racers and come to an amicable solution...afterall, aren't we all members, not soldiers?

I believe that this is a golden opportunity to generate a class that is attractive to spectators, that see the same new cars on the road....How about "Pro Factory Stock" keeping 3 classes....no tube chassis.....factory interior......Lots of restrictions so the class doesn't get out of hand like "Pro Stock". Personally, I believe that the new cars are good for our sport, but, let's not let them get out of hand with modifications.

Agreed!
Let the new SS become the new PS...get the manufacturers really involved...no aero adjustments!

Nitro Joe Jackson has an idea (see the live at 2014 Gators thread). How about the cars be classified as SS/AFX, SS/BFX and SS/CFX which would take all the new cars out of stock and into ss. That would also get them off the 9 inch rear tires. Maybe limit them to an 11 inch tire. Indexes could be adjusted accordingly. How about 9.00, 9.40 and 9.80??

Agree with the "no aero adjustments". Brett......these cars "have" to look like showroom cars. If manufacturers want an aero advantage......then the manufacturers can build a car with an advantage. I believe to be successful, the cars absolutely have to look like showroom cars.... I am also old enough to remember the saying "win on Sunday, sell cars on Monday" I still believe that is true.......

A current Pro Stock car does not come close to looking like a showroom car.....or for that matter, John Forces' Mustang, is no more a Mustang than our Dodge Dart....LOL

The factory stock cars are in a class all by themselves, to bring them in line with everybody else in stock you have to lower there indexs. If you average the qualifying of the factory stock cars out you come up with 1.33 under,1.40 under if you throw out the car that was not 1. under. By using the ahfs system if you go 1.33 under your index is lowerd 3 tenths 1.40 is 4 tenths and if you go 1.65 you index would be .65 less. What difference does it make if all the factory stocks indexs where dropped 5 tenths they would still run the same ets just not as far under on the qualifying sheet. Tom

Manufacturers apparently like their new stuff at the top of the sheet, and NHRA is eager to oblige. I don't understand; however, why they would "showcase" the FS cars and then just run their class eliminations on Thursday when spectator attendance is so low. Perhaps their marketing dept and webmaster dept are run by the same group, that would explain a lot.
