This is a "must read" article for everyone ! Larry has articulated the problems of racing today so that even NHRA should be able to understand.

As long as present management at NHRA is in place I don't see much positive happening. I think they will continue to operate like they are until they can no longer pay their salaries and then they will walk away, leaving who knows to pick up the pieces. There are no racers left in management and there hasn't been for a long time.

Many years ago I was able to spend about half an hour talking with both David and Buddy about their car after they had just lost in eliminations at Bandimere. When he was sick, Buddy autographed a brand new "old stock" Reher, Morrison & Shepard t-shirt we had and then gave to DRAW for their auction. I'm thinking some of these guys might be playing mind games with the competition, like our dirt track guys using black metal underneath so no one can "see" their rear suspension:-D |

He made some good points and recognizing the knowledge and work of guys like Glidden and WJ is great, makes him "real" to many of us who have raced for years. The current management isn't really invested in the future of racing, they are obviously just in it for a fat check, no different than running a Taco Bell franchise or 7-11. Found it really interesting about Ford's lack of support and speculating about Kallitta and Schumacher stepping away and what would happen next. Just like bracket racing saved the sport years ago it may yet get another chance.

If Ford has no interest in drag racing why do they keep making new CJs left and right? I dont think they have much interest in carburated $100,000 engine morphed into almost Funny Car looking Pro Stockers.... I do think they have interest in Stock/Super Stock.

Pro Stock needs to sh.t can the carbureted big motor and stupid hood scoops
Go to flat hood cars with injection and blowers and stop all of the aero package crap There is not a single production car made in the world any more that uses the technology that Pro Stock uses IMHO Ron

Lots of Comp cars & SM SS cars do.
Much of our piston, ring and valve train technology trickled down from Pro Stock. If you have a Stocker, not as much applies. The word Stock in the name has nothing to do with Stock Eliminator. People complain "they all look alike!" Walk through a shopping mall parking lot. Most of the newer cars, of any brand, look just as much alike. I can't imagine why their appearance bothers some that much. Get real. How can anybody that knows anything about building engines not be impressed by normally aspirated engines making that kind of power? Or that many cars, of different mfgrs, all running times that close together?

Rose Racing, you are misinformed about Ford's interest in Stock & SS. They are interested in selling Cobra Jets, they do not a have a clue and/or care that any other Ford product exists. There was a time when Ford had pretty decent contingiency payouts, they pulled most of that money and directed it at the Cobra Jets. Can't fault them but don't nurse any illusion that they are supporting sportsman racing.

I think Larry held back on his comments about NHRA.
