Losing 7 off his index didn't help, looks like it's Rampy. Didn't Vincent lose some off his permanent index at the Vegas National as well?Scotty electing to run the big bracket races I get, just surprised Barone didn't throw together a deal to make a western swing more tempting. Have a lot of respect for the unique breed of Comp racers that tough it out every year, the class is a pure joy to watch. Guess Rampy/Skillman team gets the crown, helps make it up for Drew coming in second two years in a row (officially anyway).

Well looks like Vincent will lose on head to head matchups with Patterson in Div 5, lets see if he goes to Pomona, he would have to go anyway if he won the championship. Tom

Losing permanent index at Las Vegas doesn't effect any of the Championship contenders. Las Vegas is altitude indexes. The ones that go to Pomona will have their original non altitude index to beat up in their efforts.

I don`t think it works that way anymore. Index loss is index loss regardless of altitude track or sea level.

Is this to mean that if you race Vegas with an index of 8.75 and take .03 permanent, that this .03 will be taken off the non altitude index as well as the altitude index? Never heard this before. If true, that changes some things. Some of the altitude indexes are softer than than their non altitude indexes by a little and the reason that some Comp racers didn't care if they beat the index up at Vegas while chasing a Championship. I can think of a few with that philosophy over the last several years.

You can take index at any race, Shaun took .05 at the national event. It seems the guys that are super quick at altitude tracks aren't nearly as quick at a none altitude track but NHRA continues to say nothing is wrong with the correction.

Sean Vincent and Clark Smiley elected not to enter Pomona. The entries are closed. Therefore, David Rampy is the 2014 NHRA Comp champion. His fourth title and first since 1995.

I think both needed to reach the semifinals at Pomona to tie Rampy's points total and go to the finals for a clear win.
