Good luck to those going to Pomona.
We are looking good here for the 22nd. It's supposed to be low to mid 70's hear next week . I haven't got a report from Vegas yet about our local racers.. Specifically, here's some I have not heard from; Chris Ashley Eric Bell Ray Menard Setters family (part time..snowbirds) Hawk Bros. Jack Foshee Angelo Philips Harry Doolittle Bill Nelson and ?? SoCal ? Vegas? El Paso? Albuquerque? Anyone talk to these people about our event? Thanks Oh..We will be parking cars NHRA event style ..Straight rows disregarding road course through pits. Of course S/SS can all pit together on the upper level past the Comp pits or at the quarter mile scoreboards but those spots go fast. Questions? Call me

Just heard from a racer from Teuton's Dark Side, and from the North Country.
He'll be down Friday night. The early snow up there must have convinced him. Won't happen here....Sunny and 70 degrees rest of the week. Who else?

Wild Horse Pass Raceway has a Sunoco fuel vendor with all flavors on hand.
But...here's your chance to burn up all that gas from this season. Remember..No heads up runs in eliminator..Weight check only for qualifying. No fuel check...(I still remember what ERC smells like though ;-) )

Anyone who didn't attend missed a great time! Excellent job by Mark and the Wildhorse staff. The track was great.

Looks like I missed a good time, but I needed to be at work more than I needed to spend $130 on a roll of the dice. On my budget, if the race offers nothing to benefit the national/divisional scene, I will likely not go until I come into more money, or am nearly debt free. However Mike, I might go to the Nitro Jam race in Tucson, but only if I am not able to enter Pomona's 75 car field with my 2 grade points, hence the main reason I was in 'Vegas. Sorry Mark, but your race was too close to the divisional for me to attend.
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving today as well as good memories of that race. ![]()

Disclaimer
Gary, you are my friend, so no disrespect intended. I have no bones to pick with NHRA or IHRA But,,, Your logic is flawed on many levels. I don't do ROI on racing because It would terrify me. If I were: Here is what I see.. 2divisionals at $500 min.. 1 National at $600 min =$1600 to race Winters.(maybe) Combo race $130 plus $100 (days pay) $230. I think Paula won about 1k and Andy about $600. Plus whatever semis were. This was 4 rounds with 1 single each. Car quality We had many former National and divisional finalists,at least 1 former world champ, numerous current and former national record holders. Spectators I spent the day talking to spectators about the slowest car in the field. There were many that were interested in a entry level stocker. They crowded the fences when we ran. We were the show... not filler. Track prep Track prep was on as good as or better than National event prep. Misc The wildhorse crew were excellent and came by after the race to thank us for coming. Front page coverage on Arizonaautoscene, com. Mark made sure the show ran smoothly. (very few glitches) One day,one first round and complete before sundown. For my entertainment dollar I would give this 2 thumbs up. We need more. |

1. My work did need me and it was a sure thing to make money being there, and more (quite a bit) than $100 bucks thanks to overtime pay. 2. Paying $130 bucks for a race that I (no matter how good me and my car ran), could've lost in rnd 1, and I bet there was no pay for the first round runner-ups was there?), wasn't a chance I could afford to take (especially since the race was on a Saturday (right), when I was at work). Hence my roll of the dice comment. 3. The race was only 2wks after the divisional, and that race had national/divisional significance to me. I mainly went to 'Vegas to; a. get another grade point with Pomona in mind, and b. to get some valuable seat time while hanging out with racing buds like Ryan Warter, Marion Stephenson, Cal & Jon Percy, and Dwayne Scheitlin (who I don't get to race with often), and especially Bill O'Connor (whose racing budget is more like mine, than most anyone else who was there), right? I mean after all, how we get to the races, our trailers used, and our on track accommodations while there are as far apart from equal, as is the performance of our cars. Trust me in that I wish I could have been there, because I like having people talk to me about my Cavalier, and I probably would have had a great time, but unlike most of my fellow racers, I also don't have my racing operation where I live ( the joy of apt. living), nor is it relatively close to me (60 miles), because I can't afford storage space fees (my car also would have no security from other lot space users). I thus have to make sure I can even get to it, since I keep it with a customer of my work. Now if the race fee was $80 total (like Div 5 national opens are), given how closely it was to the divisional, then I more likely would' ve been there. It was too much too soon for my budget....sorry
