Jim uses PPPC most of the time. He can get them when he needs them. Trend usually takes a little more time to get. He has had good luck with both.

I have a set of Schubeck style lifters from Smith Machine for my Ford.
I haven't put the engine together yet, any comments for or against using them? |

I've used Schubeck or Smith lifters for 15 years with zero problems. I stay on top of my valve adjustment and spring pressure.

IMHO Schubeck style lifters are fine if there is zero chance of the lifter not staying in contact with the cam lobe, i.e. float lifters, broken spring, lost spring pressure, broken rocker arm adjuster, bent pushrod, lash not adjusted properly. I'm sure there are other causes I didn't list but you get the idea. For us, we have had some problems with rocker arm adjusters breaking. We would have lost an engine last year if we hadn't had tool steel lifters in it. Like Greg said in post #23, if you stay on top of everything they are generally good lifters however, I know some people who are very meticulous who have lost an engine due to a cracked puck of maybe a very minor oversight. I just don't want to take that chance.
