Talking *** Save The Classified Section***

the class racer administrator is pissed at how some of us use the classified section. I for one ( and most of you ) am sure that we would like to save this "FREE PRIVILEGE" to advertise our stuff. I have bought and sold many items from the classifieds and it is a great way to advertise...better than any swap meet in my book!!!. So let's listen to the administrator and listen to what he says and "SAVE THE CLASSIFIEDS"...luke awdish

I'm with you Luke..
That is one of the reasons I choose to make this a primary site to visit. With the limited amout of time I have to spend on the computer I like to visit just a min. number of sites. I also like that this site serves Class Racers. I don't have to wade through all the other Junk, like on other sites, to see real race proven parts from real racers. When buying & selling on this site I have never had any problems or scams. Now I think that says loads about the quality of the racers here. I don't think I have abused the Classified Section, but If I have I would not do it again. I really don't undrstand what the abuse is. Is it the chatter some people post after an ad? Is it inapproiate ads? Is it some of the bashing I've seen after ads? If it is that, then why are all of us being punished for the actions of a few? Why not block out the offenders? It is my opinion that dropping the Classifieds will take away from the quality of this site.

I am also not sure what the problem with the classifieds is. I didn't see anything inappropriate or any businesses trying to sell their products.

I think the administrator can answer better than I can, but I will try...If you try to sell something ie: an add with a race car for sale someone will answer with a bashing of the person or the car they are trying to sell...or you see ttt ( to the top) or you are a business trying to advertise...this privelege is for class racers and we should act like it..but I hope the administrator can clarify!!!...Luke Awdish

Hillarey, the reason you don't see anything inappropriate, I have been deleting the threads. I have also had to temporarily ban members.

Bob, I need to post strong language to get the message across. Members tend to ignore the rules until they are threatened.

Fred, I'm glad to see someone has seen the abuse.

Luke Awdish, Exactly!

motormouse, if you have any question please feel free to contact us.

Class Racer is trying to keep this site from becoming a 24 hour commercial.

This is a permanent "sticky" I found in the "Performance Years" Pontiac site. It seems obvious what the problem's were and this policy apparently corrected the problem's.
I especially like the "bump" policy because when you constantly bump your item to the top, your bumping somebody else off the page. Bumping is done both by "ttt" mesages and idol ****-chat that's off topic.
I also like that the price must be mentioned or it's deleted. Some look like their fishing for a sucker buyer. If you want to solicit bids, place it on ebay.
Anybody else like this polict?

Here's how it reads:

Information your PARTS FOR SALE ad MUST contain:

Location.

Please include the City and State along with the Zipcode.

Price.

You must put a price on your item(s). FOR SALE ads posted without a price will be deleted.

Parts cars: If you are making a list of or naming any of the parts that you are selling off the car then you must price them. If you're just putting the car itself up for parting with no individual parts listing, potential buyers should PM or email the seller to check pricing or find what they need off of your parts car.

eBay auctions:

Please post a link to your auction so others won't have to ask for the link. If you don't know how to post a link, ask how in the 'Test & Tune' forum.

The '3 day bump' rule.
You cannot , btt, or otherwise bring your ad back to the top more often than every three days.

Adding pics, changing the price or adding info? Edit one of your previous posts if you have not yet waited 3 days. You can answer questions that are posted in the thread. Just keep in mind that we want the Classifieds to work well for you as well as your fellow PY sellers, so be fair to to others and don't bump your For Sale or Wanted ad excessively.

Pics.

Not a requirement, but you know potential buyers will want to see one or more detailed photos of what you're selling. Put a picture in your ad, if you don't know how to do this ask in the 'Test & Tune' forum.

Please, constructive replies only.

Replies should be limited to questions and answers regarding the sale.

Think a price is too high? Send the poster a Private Message. If the price is high the seller will certainly get the idea when nobody replies. If you have something to say that might hurt the seller by posting it then don't post it, keep in mind that anything that can be construed as abuse of the sellers here will be dealt with.

Do not hijack the ad of another seller by posting your own item for sale in that seller's thread. If you have a similar item to sell, then start a thread of your own to sell your item.

These types of replies will be deleted, and you WILL receive a warning that could lead to being BANNED from PY.

It is suggested that you use the Private Message feature to conduct your business in private. Contact the seller using the PM feature if you want to buy something, this keeps your private business dealings off the forums.

After you've sold your item:

Please edit your first, original post and put 'SOLD' in the first line of your ad. This keeps others from wasting their time looking at a 'dead' ad. I will delete all old finalized ads with 'sold' or 'found' posted anywhere in them.

We want to make the Classifieds here at Performance Years work smoothly for both buyers and sellers, please kindly follow the rules posted above. It's all about common sense and common courtesy, the staff here at PY thanks you for your cooperation.

My opinion is that it is nice to be able to buy/sell quality used/new parts from known racers that wont risk their reputation selling substandard parts. Thanks ClassRacer.com
