I still remember that feeling very well. It was total luck that I got entered my first year. I didn't have a grade point until the Sat. or Sun. before the event. It was a stressful Monday morning but got lucky and got in. Hopefully he can get hooked up with someone dropping out to get their spot.

I begged and pleaded to get the quota increased last year since other classes weren't full. They wouldn't even consider it. I also read earlier this year that no quotas would be increased this year at any national event.

I went to Peter Clifford's presentation to the Sportsman Racers Friday. After it was over I spoke to him and three others about some of the issues thar Sportsman are concerned about. Item number one on my list was the Sportsman quotas. Response was that they were trying to insure a great experience for the people attending the race. I didn't get the impression that they were considering increasing the quotas. I then suggested that the grade point system needed to be revamped and did seem to get a more positive response. I brought up the oil down fines and was told that since they had started the fines the number of oil downs had gone down. I don't see this fine going away. I will be following up with them with a few ideas on the grade points. If you have any ideas pass them on to officials at NHRA.. Don't know that it will help but constructive ideas might. If I had to guess, I would say that Greg Stanfield is the one who entered. Keep in mind that myself, and Scott Burton have yet to enter as well. I plan on being there and last I heard, Scott was planning on it too.

Hi Austin, do you normally wait to enter since your guaranteed entry? If so I'm happy you do. Will allow folks more of a chance to get in. I'll never forget that feeling of thinking I wasn't going to get into the race I'd been most looking forward to.

Yes, normally I try to wait until the race is full and then enter, that way I am not taking up a spot that someone can use.
