Why not first ask nhra to cut the classes back to say 40. Run a/t & sticks together, put the modified cars in comp, & combine the factory cars in with Gt or s/s, then try to get sponsors to pay class again. Do I currently have a car that could win class, no, not by any streach. But if the classes were cut back I would bet a big number that want class would bail

For the sake of the class this is the direction we should be following, adding a class for every new car certainly hasn't worked
Like I said due to all the negativity (like you) I dropped it from my final proposal (I wasn't going to but ill post it on here). Like I have told many people feel free to write your own proposal to nhra. I'm actually trying to do something. Just like when I ran my SS/K shootout raising over 7000.00 for fellow racers for one class there was still.bitching.......

Ed, not negative or bitchin. Just trying to make sense out of one class having 122 individual categories. No contingency sponsor could afford to pay this on a consistent basis.

Cudos to you on the points for record setting. I don't disagree with all of your proposal, just the class thing.

Ps we have presented the number of classes thing to NHRA

Forgive me because I'm new to this and learning. Why do I keep reading about people wanting to combine the autos and sticks? And what would be the appeal to reduce classes?

I think running class at divisionals would be a hoot. I have a lot of money in my car,but I bring it to the track TO RACE IT without a lot of thought about contingency,s . You can pay us a winners hat and a cheap trophy and we'll race it. Besides my driver won turn down another time trial.

Contrary to what people think, having all these different classes is what Stock Eliminator is all about. There are a ton of combos out there and they all fit different classes. There is nothing wrong with that. Having less classes is what will bring Stock down. You are trying to create lump classes to satisfy who? NHRA, select racers, time restraints, or is it contingencies. How about this. Contingency sponsors paying for Stock, only pay for the classes that have participants.
