Southern S/SS Assn.Race Results

This is going to be short and sweet with plenty more info to come. We (the facilities) at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds GA were hit by a bolt of lighting Friday afternoon and it knocked out the clocks and ALL electrical power to the track. Ed and his crew worked their butts off and we had a great 1/8 mile combo race Saturday night. With a total of 28 racers answering first round, Owen Birkett (L/SA )won over Brenda Grubbs (C/SA) in the final. Brenda had a rather hard landing in her C/SA Camaro and broke both her motor mounts and headers. The badly needed electrical components did not show up by race time on Sunday and we again had a fine 1/8 mile race in the 99 degree heat of Central Georgia. In the final on Sunday it was Hugh Meeks (H/SA) taking the win over James Hill (N/SA). More info and some pictures soon. Jim

Jim, I had a great time ! I hope the next one is close enough for me ! It was great meeting a lot of folks and I thought it went off well, considering the weather and related issues that no one could do much about. Hats off to Ed, Dorothy and the whole crew for a well run event, thanks for having it.

Kenny you are so right! Not much we could do about the weather. Ed and the crew are some of the nicest and most dedicated group you will ever find at a track! They were the ultimate hosts for our race #2 and #3. The crew worked their butts off with the computers and wiring just to be sure the race come off right. My Hat is off to Silver Dollar Raceway and the great staff! Jim
