Question about grade points
I have a wedding to attend next weekend so I will not be able to attend the DIV 2 points race in Commerce. Can I purchase a car and driver ticket, go through tech BUT never make a run and receive a grade point?

I have been told that some racers would rent a rental car and go thru Tech just to get a grade point but that was stopped due to all cars must pass fuel check. Hope this helps.

yes-- just make sure you do get teched and turn your card in--you will get 10 points---In about 2 weeks go to the oints section for your class and make sure NHRA gives you credit for this race--Comp 387
will get 10 points |

I'll bet it has to be you cuz they check your license etc. "However" you could be in the bathroom? etc when they tech the car but you will have to show your NHRA number and membership card to show that it is current--Me, I would not want to take the chance of not being there and have somebody else tech the car---Anyway if you can get the car there on Thurs and be one of the very first in line Fri AM. then after you get teched in take off for your wedding---Comp 387

The rules state that you must go through tech yourself, sign your own tech card, and sign in at the registration trailer. However, that does not mean people have not gotten by with less.

The real answer is .........You better check with your division @ director.
Two different examples from 2008..... (Division 3) local stock racer teched in his work truck, never made a run, and got a grade point. (Division 1) southern hemi SS racer was told he would not get a grade point if car he showed up with did not make a run and did not pass fuel check. again...... check with D2 director. Tom Sheehan |
