Thumbs up Re: Attn. Mopar Stocker racers?????

That's a really good question. And the answer is % wise, I don't know. I ran Cryo'd only ring and pinions before I started Rem finishing them. Done correctly, (and I can't stress this enough ), and in a quality machine. I think the Cryo'ing adds more to the life of the gear than the Rem Finishing. I think the Rem Finishing adds more to the performance of the gear set. Think of it in terms of the Cryogenic Process treating the gear from the inside out, while the Rem Finish removes any surface imperfections and/or stresses. One thing I've noticed. After the Rem Finishing, any machining imperfections from the manufacturing of the gear set show up like a zit on your nose. This allows you to hand polish, with a cartrage roll in most cases, the "bad spots". It's my feeling that these imperfections gone un noticed cause many of the gear failures that we see today. If you're freshing up your rear this winter, I suggest you try it. It's cheap insurance. And I pay contengencies.
The hardest thing for me to convince racers is, Cryogenic Processing has improved many times over in the past couple years. They say, I tried that, it didn't work. NO, if you haven't tried it in the past year or two you haven't tried it. Cryogenic Processing, done correctly, is now done in expensive computerized machines. Gone are the days of 5 gal buckets with dry ice, and/or beer coolers.
Ask anybody doing Cryo a couple simple questions. How old is your machine? What type of insulation is used in your machine? (styroform breaks down with age ) And do you temper your parts after cryoing them? This is an important part of Cryogenic Processing. Thanks for asking. JB.
