Trans brakes make a difference there. I had fewer problems hooking my nine second foot brake 383" on 9" tires than my ten second 355" SS engine (same car) with a trans brake and 10.5" tires. Good tracks are no problem, crap starting lines like this last one at Topeka are a bit of an isssue.
