I agree on the round / D port, etc., but I think the confusion on names is Pontiac never really had a Ram Air II. They had the 1968 400 4bbl with D ports and no numerical designation which was followed by a Ram Air with round ports which technically was never marketed as a Ram Air II. Correct? Followed by the Ram Air III of 1969/1970/1971 with D ports and the RAIV with round ports of 1969/1970. I'm no Pontiac expert so let me know if I'm wrong.

I wonder why NHRA has the 1969 Firebird RAIV and RAIII rated the same 356 HP with all the better parts on the RAIV? Seems like the RAIV would be the best of these two.
1968 shows in NHRA as having the Firebird with a 400 that's OEM / NHRA rated at 330 / 325 - 335 / 327 - 335 / 340 RA & 340 / 335 RA. That would take a lot more investigating.
