I have heard from a Chevy racer that his engine builder also builds some fast 340 motors and they will make 500 hp on his dyno. Thats seems to me a pretty close figure, IMO. The thing that amazes me is that there are over 17 340/289 cars that have run 1.00 under (1.275 to 1.03) the first 6 month period according to Nitro Joe's Stats. He shows a total of 33 340/289 making Sea Level passes in the same period. They are from all over the country and I only counted Sea Level runs. To say they need some HP is up to NHRA. What do you think?? Its pretty obvious to me, but then I drive a Fairlane with a School Bus motor in it. Todd They are in "G" Bud!! But I don't think that Ponitac has much to worry about.
