No, I have never used the radial slicks. My car is a stick, and everybody that I have ever talked to said the radials won`t work with a clutch car. I do understand that the radials have next to no tire growth, but I agree that 1/4" is awfully tight, at least to me.
As for the wheel well opening cutting, I had to cut up my 85 just to get the 29 1/2"s to fit. I had to move the lower front section, at the rocker panel area by about 1"
