Racepak’s IR temp sensor – while not really new (released in 2010), I had not used it until recently. I had a few people call about them – one of which was guy ordering a second system for his #2 car who explained how he was using the sensor. This Stock guy found big gains monitoring track temp because Stock is frequently first or second out while the track is cold at 8:01AM.
Many racers have the temp guns and everyone has seen the Pro Teams use them for track & tire temp. Here is a Youtube Vid The sensor is only .750 x .500 x .500 and is very durable as it used on Top Fuel and Formula 1 cars. ![]() For the racers using other brands of loggers, the sensor can be used on any brand of system. One of the thing I like is using moving the sensor around to different places on the car to learn more about various parts of the car. I’ll be putting one on my car to start logging tire/track temps 2011. I’ll also make some brackets so I can move it to the tranny cooler and a few other places I am curious about. Now though I have to upgrade my Sportsman to a V300SD to handle the extra channels.
