Default Re: 2013 2.9L Super Cobra Jet Crash at Cecil County

I've raced at Cecil all season long from June where it was 102 degrees to November where it was 44 degrees. Track prep is as good as you'll find anywhere.

This car got into trouble as during the wheelie it drifted to the centerline out of the groove and he got back into the throttle which is what sent him into the wall. The groove at Cecil isn't terribly wide and the center portion is bare concrete. You HAVE to stay in the groove. You get out of the groove and you will be in trouble.

My own car I run a 275 DOT drag radial on a stock suspension car that runs 5 teens in the 1/8 mile with a best 60' of 1.12 naturally aspirated. It's plenty of tire for the job, but proper placement of the car on the track is critical.

MIR you could get away with what this driver did, but you don't have quite as much room for error at Cecil. Had he lifted when the front end came down the crash wouldn't have happened.

Sad to see a brand new car get wrecked like it did.
