I have never broken one. But I, along with a number of SS stick shift racers have twisted them 2 splines. Strange said they would replace them if they twisted 3 splines, but that's not the real problem. I used to use an axle puller to get them out and a sledge hammer to get them back in. And if you changed gear ratios, you were screwed as the spool would move slightly to the left or right. The last time that happened to me, I said enough was enough. I ordered all new Mark Williams axles and spools and they were a dream. You could pull them out using two fingers on each side of the flange and put them back with just a bump from the palm of your hand. No comparison. More than once I've had to change rear ends between rounds. With MW components it's a dream. With Strange axles..... no way.
