Default Re: Cyl honing questions?

The Rottler HM is not an automatic cylinder hone. It is dependent on the operator for the stroking. This makes it much more operator dependent on quality. A CK-10 is automatic, it gives you perfect stroking speed every time, no matter how dumb you are. And it has automatic feed with a load meter to keep your stone load consistent. A good man on a HM could do it, but he would have to be a man that has bonded with his HM. Everybody recommends a plateau finish now a days. The Speed Pro targets for Ra, Rz, Rpk and Rvk are easily achievable assuming your man has a profilometer. They will go nearly to size with 280 and then give it some 400 to knock off the peaks and give it the plateau.
