Default Re: 1970 mopar 440-375

For that several years NHRA has factored the body style and individual engine
together rather than just the engine in general. They feel performance is linked
to chassis and aerodynamics and well as engine output.

This has made for some interesting changes = My Aspen Wagon rerated to
a FULL 19 More horsepower than a 2 Door sedan with the same 360. ( Try carrying
230 Lbs. more than all the guys next to you in Class Elims. with same combo.....You
will look like a Idiot!)

Who would of guessed that the long roof / longer wheelbase / Big roof rack
would have generated that much more power and give me SUCH a Advantage!

After pushing our Wagon to the back of shop....We put the running gear in a Dodge Pickup at 39 LESS Horsepower
with a much bigger cam and more compression if we had chosen to use it ( we did not use it).

We set the National Record the first time out and ran 1.30 plus in bracket mode with the worse worn out engine we owned
instead of being a bottom feeder on the ladder and first round class runner up.

We went from Idiots to Experts with a single broad stroke of the NHRA pencil !! = In class we could wait for the green and beat
guys who had worked their butts off for years to get their combinations to work.

Not particularly proud of myself..........Unfortunately, That is how to game is played the last few years AND that is the new reality!
