Re: Live from Las Vegas
Ray crashed during the 2nd round of Comp qualifying yesterday.
From DRC:
Quote:
LAS VEGAS -- Travis Gusso, Sioux Falls, SD., and Ray Skillman, Greenwood, Ind., were involved in an incident during the second qualifying session for Competition Eliminator during the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series portion of the NHRA Toyota Nationals. Gusso and Skillman's cars went out of control past the finish line and both came to a stop in the sand trap. Gusso exited the car under his own power. Skillman was extracted from his car by Safety Safari and was alert and responding to commands. Skillman was transported to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada for further evaluation.

Left Lane: Travis Gusso Runs 8.606/157.23/-0.574, Now #12; D/SM Index: 9.18, Prior Best: 8.715/156.64/-0.465, Was #18
Right Lane: Ray Skillman Runs 7.732/174.05/-0.648, Now #5; E/AA Index: 8.38, Prior Best: 8.006/171.58/-0.374, Was #21
Skillman makes a decent pass and improves but has problems at the end of the run. He makes a hard move to the left, hits the wall and the car rolls. It lands on the wheels and the throttle sticks. It looks like he hits Gusso at some point, then goes into the sand followed by Gusso. According to NHRA officials both drivers are out of their vehicles.
