Yes ,you can still trim the inner flange away. You can legally stretch the front and rear opening..(safety, don't ya' know), and as MJ said, some judicious work with the Ford tool on the wheel wells, has been going on forever.
But I have to say , some of the stuff I've seen lately, back a generation ago, Marty Barrett, Greg X, or Wesley would have bounced you so hard and fast, your azz would be on fire.
