What do you do with the side opposite the journal (counterweight) if the total rotating weight (bob weight + the weight of the journal) is reduced. Forget the bobweight, that's just a function of reciprocating and rod big end weigh????? The weight is removed opposite the journal, you gain from the reduced weight of the journal side and the reduced weight caused by the removal of weight from the counterweight to balance it.. That's why a lighter crankshaft is better than a heavy crankshaft. Make sense.....
