In my opinion if you build an engine with much horsepower you will need to go to a cage and subfloor connectors or you will bend the car. Don't ask me how I know but being able to close the doors easily is nice.

However if you do the modifications with future removal in mind I don't think you will be doing terrible damage to the car or its value.
